Description
Handsome fold-out 1954 Conoco road map of Utah, printed more than 66 years ago. This map opens to 27" x 18" and has great detail on old road alignments, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.
Some of the roads in the southeastern corner of the state are marked "Make local inquiry before traveling," and the map locates the site of the Old Mormon Road and labels the route of a scenic boat trip from Mexican Hat to Lees Ferry, Arizona.
On the reverse side there's a highway map of the United States and inset plans of Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Bryce and Zion National Parks.
The map was distributed in 1954 by the Continental Oil Company to promote its Conoco brand, and it is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 8-BB. The code number on the back cover is 4541.
Small triangles on the map locate Conoco service stations throughout the state.
