    Description

    Handsome fold-out 1950 Conoco road map of Colorado, printed more than 71 years ago.
    This map opens to 27" x 18".
    It has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.
    On the reverse side there are inset plans of Denver, Pueblo, Trinidad, the Colorado Springs-Pikes Peak Region, and Rocky Mountain and Mesa Verde National Parks.
    Among the other named places on the map are Aspen, Manitou, Durango, Walsenburg, Boulder, Grand Junction, and Cripple Creek.
    The map was distributed in 1950 by the Continental Oil Company to promote its Conoco brand, and it is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 9-X. Population data is from the 1940 census.
    The code number on the back cover is 12492. Small triangles on the map locate Conoco service stations throughout the state.
